Brief History of the College
A vision was seen by some eminent educationist, renowned academician and dedicated philanthropist to remove the growing rate of illiteracy in this backward area mainly inhabited by tribal population but abundantly rich in minerals. A sincere endeavor was made to free this area from dark cell of illiteracy and create a new horizon of literacy and education. This Vision became a reality by Late. Sri. C.N. Maharaja philanthropist and Sri. K.S. Chatterjee, Then M.L.A of Nirsa and a popular trade union Leader. A degree College was established in 1980 named as Koyalchal Sanjay Gandhi Memorial College.
And long cherished vision became a reality. One cannot forget the role of Dr. S.N. Rana, Then Principal of R.S. More College Govindpur who played a key role during its infancy. With the passage of time, this College became a matured and viable institute.
The K.S.G.M. College, Nirsa is a Co-educational degree College permanently affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag and imparts general education in all three faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. Honours teaching is being taught in almost all subjects. This College has been registered by University Grants Commission under 2f and 12 B. After its registration in U.G.C, K.S.G.M. College created a new chapter in its annals of success by fulfilling all the necessary amenities.
MANAGEMENT
The affairs of the College are managed by a permanently Governing Body Constituted as per the statutes of the V.B.U. Hazaribagh.
VENUE
This College is situated in a picturesque location. It is housed in a big building which is the administrative building of the college. The college is near the Govt. Middle School and High School, Nirsa which is aloof from the din and bustle of the town which is idea for the location of an academic institution.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS
Recently certain effective steps have been taken to upgrade the functioning of the College. All out efforts are being made to tone up the College administration to regularize the classes, improve the standard of teaching of all levels and to streamline the academic and extra-curricular activities of the college for the convenience of the students, a Boys Common Room has been provided A new Girl’s Common Room with toilet facility has also been provided in view of the increasing number of girls students in the college. An honest and sincere effort have been made for the construction of new rooms to accommodate the increasing number of students of this college. The first sincere effort was made by then M.L.A. Late Sri Gurudas Chatterjee who helped the college in the construction of Arts Block from M.L.A fund. Another block has also been constructed by Sri. Arup Chatterjee, sitting M.L.A. from M.L.A fund. This block is know as GURUDAS BHAWAN” Sri. Arup Chatterjee has also helped to enrich the library, Laboratories and infrastructure of this college. He realized adequate amount from M.L.A. fund for these purposes. He has played a vitriol in amelioration of the condition of teaching & non-teaching staff & students Teaching of Biology has been started 1990-92 sessions.
An another sincere and honest efforts was initiated by Smt. Aparna Sengupta Ex. M.L.A. of Nirsa and ex-minister of Science and Technology and P.H.E.D., Govt. of Jharkhand. She helped in the construction of Science Block from her M.L.A. fund. This Science Block is known as SHUSHANTO BHAWAN’’.
Sri C.S. Dubey, Ex- M.P. of Dhanbad has also constructed a common- Hall from M.P. Fund. The college has got generous support from all the political parties cutting across party line. As a result of these new development. More and more students are being attached to the college and in the coming session the number of students is expected to exceed all past records.
VISION:
In the year 1978 the thy-then MLA namely Mr.K.S.Chaterjee and Mr. Chabinath Maharaj had a vision to establish one College for the most under privilege workers children of the Coal field and to bring them to the lime light through higher education and to create a healthy academic atmosphere among the labour class community.
MISSION:
The College came in to its existence in the year 1980 and fulfills the dream of two eminent leaders of the locality.
OBJECTIVE:
The main objectives of the institution was to impart higher education to all the students of any caste and any race of SC/ST, OBC, Minorities and the students from the below poverty line with nominal tuition fee to come in to the main stream of the society and to make them self sufficient to stand on their own feet. Vision, Mission and Objectives are communicated through College Website, Notice Board and important places of the institution.
